If you don’t live far from a grocery market or store, a wagon to carry groceries will be a more economical option for carrying all your shopping home. A grocery wagon has a handle for easy pulling/pushing, while the wheels help the cart to take on different surfaces smoothly so that you don’t struggle to pull or push it.
In this article, I’ll give you some good pointers on grocery wagons and introduce you to my favorite wagon to carry groceries.

Mac Sports Double Decker Wagon – Best Value Wagon
Mac Sports Double Decker Wagon is a large wagon with internal dimensions of approximately 32.5” (L)x 17.5”(W) x 10.5”(H). It has a heavy duty frame which makes the cart able to carry a load of up to 150 pounds.
You can folds effortlessly to a compact size of 29.5″ x 20″ x 8″. The wagon also features a contoured handle, two mesh cup holders and a sturdy 600D fabric. It has two storage levels and comes in maroon, gray, blue, red and camo colors
A good wagon should be robust, durable and easy to use. I like this cart because it meets all those parameters. It is spacious, has a durable frame and fabric, besides being able to support heavy loads, to a maximum of 150 pounds.
Also, premium features like the adjustable contoured handle and cup holders are also a plus for this wagon.
However, find the upper basket size a bit smaller than of the majority of carts. Besides, the fabric basket isn’t removable.
Pros
- High weight capacity
- Durable fabric
- Can safely carry small-bottle drinks in the cup holders
- A firm grip
Cons
- Smaller basket as compared to most carts’
- The fabric basket is fixed
Timber Ridge Collapsible Wagon – Best “No-Limits” Wagon
Timber Ridge Collapsible Wagon is available in blue, red and green colors and can support a weight of up to 150 pounds while moving on a hard surface and 110 pounds on a sandy surface like the beach. It has a removable bottom, side pockets, and two cup holders.
The 8-inch diameter rubber wheels at its middle and the additional 3.3-inch wheels help it take on different surfaces. The front wheels rotate while the rear ones remain fixed. The wagon has a 26-inch telescoping handle, sturdy steel frame, 600D polyester fabric and a large capacity of 35.5” x 18.4” x 12”.
I like this wagon because:
- It’s heavy-duty (because of the fabric and strong wheels, sturdy steel frame, 600D polyester fabric).
- It has a larger load volume than Mac Sports Double Decker Wagon.
- It can easily roll and maneuver through different surfaces; even on really soft sand and grassy areas!
However, I found it a bit heavy to lift (approximately 25 pounds) and the handle is a bit short.
Pros
- Easy to maneuver through different surfaces
- Sturdy design
- Large load space
- Pockets and cup holders
Cons
- Short handle
- Heavy to lift
MAC Sports Folding Wagon – Best Budget Wagon
MAC Sports Folding Wagon is available in blue, red, green, pink, black, camo and gray colors. It has a sturdy steel frame construction which enables it to support a weight of up to 150 pounds. It features a 600 Denier polyester fabric.
The front wheels of the wagon move as the back rear ones remain locked. The wagon has cup holders and folds compactly for stress-free storage and transportation. It weighs 22.5 pounds, has a weight capacity of 150 pounds and measures 35.5″L x 20.1″W x 22.5”H when unfolded. Its price ranges from $69 to $82.
I like this wagon because:
- It steers nicely.
- It’s available in a wide range of colors.
- It’s cheaper than Timber Ridge Folding or Mac Sports DD-100 yet it has numerous prime features.
That’s why it is among the most popular wagons.
However, I was struggling to pull drag it through the sand. Another drawback is that it doesn’t have a wheel lock or steering lock. Those are my dislikes about this wagon.
Pros
- It is cheaper
- Lightweight feeling
- Spacious
- Steers nicely
- Wide color variety
Cons
- Doesn’t pull easily through the sand
- It doesn’t have a wheel lock or steering lock
Trolley Dolly Stair Climber – Honorable Mention
Featuring 6-wheel design, Trolley Dolly Stair Climber can smoothly glide up and down stairs. It has seven storage compartments and is available in blue, black, baroque, blue polka dot, brown, daisy, damask, Moroccan tile, paisley, red, sunflower and Victorian colors. It weighs 5 pounds only.
I like Trolley Dolly Stair Climber because it makes a very convenient wagon to carry groceries. You can quickly move your foodstuffs up or down the stairs of the supermarket or your home. Besides, the seven storage compartments help one to carry delicate stuff separately and safely.
The lightweight and the wide color variety of the cart are also other factors that make me find it to be a convenient and beautiful wagon to carry groceries.
However, the things I dislike about this cart are its not-so-durable plastic wheels and the fact that the wheels aren’t securely attached and so, they might fall off.
Pros
- A lightweight wagon to carry groceries
- Safer storage in the seven compartments
- Wide color range
- Easy gliding up/down stairs
Cons
- Plastic wheels
- Insecurely attached wheels
