There are many bike carts for toddlers, but some are safer, stronger and more comfortable than others. One of the key factors that I consider as I test various bike carts for toddlers to get the best cart for my toddler is the kid’s preference. That is, whether she or she will like it.
In as such, I must make sure that the cart I choose has a color/colors that are attractive to my baby. Once the color is okay, then I’ll proceed to look for other key factors, especially safety and convenience.
Having put the three features in consideration, I have found the following to be the best carts for toddlers.
Contents
Schwinn Echo – Best Value Cart
Schwinn Echo is available in yellow color and has an aluminum frame, 20-inch wheels, a 2-in-1 canopy featuring a bug screen and weather shield option and a rear ventilation window. The trailer has a total capacity of 92 pounds; 80 for passenger and 12 for storage. It also has a 5-points rider harness system with shoulder patches.
My kids love yellow color and so, Schwinn Echo is attractive to them and to me too. Other things I like about the bike cart is the large window through which a child can enjoy the beautiful outdoor views while on a ride.
Besides, the large wheels make the cart less bumpy, enhancing the kid’s comfort. Also, although the cart has a passenger capacity of two kids, you can adjust its strap to hold one kid and the wagon will still balance well.
Nevertheless, I found out that the cart is only compatible with particular adult bikes. Another drawback is that the straps are of somewhat low-quality material.
Pros
- Two-kid capacity but can still work well with one kid
- Large wheels for enhanced comfort
- A big rear window
- Attractive bright color
Cons
- Low-quality straps
Instep Take 2- Best Budget Cart
Available in blue, red, light blue/grey and green colors, Instep Take has an 80-pound load capacity and enough space to accommodate two kids. It also has a 12-pound capacity, 5-points safety harness system, safety flag and a 2-in-1 canopy (for bug and weather element protection), rear ventilation window. Also, it features large 16-inch wheels and stroller conversion capability.
As I mentioned before, my kids love bright-colored bike carts for toddlers, and so, Instep Take is one of their perfect matches as it comes with various bright colors. Besides being my kid’s favorite, its budget price and standard safety features are also other factors that make me fall in love with this bike cart for toddlers.
Furthermore, I find the wagon pretty easy to assemble plus it has a very spacious storage compartment. Although it accommodates two kids, it can be adjusted to carry one kid. All these awesome features in a lowly priced wagon!
However, it is unfortunate that the cart is not compatible with all adult bikes. Additionally, some reviews indicate that its tires are of poor quality.
Pros
- Availability in various bright colors
- Standard safety features
- Easy assembly
- Adjustability to hold one child
Cons
- Only for on-road use
- Incompatibility with some adult bikes
Burley Design D’lite – Best No-Limits Cart
Burley Design D’lite has a 2-children capacity and is available in green and orange colors. It has an array of prime features including stroller/jogger/skiing convertibility, adjustable suspension, padded SIT seat adjustable sunshade and fold-flat design. It also has a parking brake.
I call Burley Design D’lite “best no-limits cart” because of its diverse functionalities. Besides being a cart, it can also be used as a stroller, jogger or for skiing. The premium safety measures like adjustable suspension, parking brake and sunshade also attract me to this cart, not forgetting to mention the padded S.I.T seat which enhances your kid’s comfort and safety even when the cart takes on a rugged terrain.
However, I find two drawbacks in this bike carriage; it’s a little bit heavy and a price that’s a bit high for some people to afford.
Pros
- Multiple functionalities
- Ability to take on all types of terrains
- The cart is durable
- Premium safety features
Cons
- Price range
Aosom Elite II Multifunctional 3in1 Cart – Honorable Mention
Aosom Elite has a two-kid capacity and is available in yellow and blue colors as well as red/black and white/black color combinations. Other key features include a steel frame, weather canopy, full suspension, fold-flat design, 20-inch rear wheels and 10-inch front wheels. It has a high passenger capacity of 80 pounds and 8-pound storage capacity. I have included the phrase “Honorable Mention” in the title of this cart because it is among the few multipurpose bike carts for toddlers which cost not more than $150.
Furthermore, with the cart, I can enjoy various outdoor activities with my kids, thanks to its multiple functionalities. The prime safety features improve the safety of a kid while on a ride.
However, just like some Instep Take, Aosom Elite is not compatible with some adult bikes. Besides, some of its reviewers mention about brake system malfunction.
Pros
- Affordable price
- Prime safety features
- Suspension system enabling Usability on bumpy or rough terrains
- Multiple functionalities
Cons
- Incompatibility with some adult’s bikes
- Brake system issues (though rarely)
