However, you don’t have anything to worry about a three-year-old cycling. At that age, as long as the kid is growing normally, he/she is so well developed that he/she can run and walk without falling, stand on one foot, kick/throw a ball, jump, climb and even begin to pedal a tricycle or a bike.
The best trike for 3 year old tricycle should at least be attractive and stable for your kid. Based on the parameters, among others, I have tested various tricycles and here are my most favorites.

Fisher-Price Grow-with-Me Trike
This trike for baby is available in blue/silver and purple/pink color combinations. The blue/ silver trike has dark blue pastel green and orange accessories while the purple/pink trike’s are light blue and. The tricycle is recommended for 2 to 5-year-olds and is available in girls’ and boys’ versions.
I like Fisher-Price Grow-with-Me Trike because of its array of toddler-friendly features such as removable pedal blocks and a comfortable seat with two-position adjustments, allowing it to grow with your baby. Also, its wide wheels enhance stability while the slip-resistant pedals make it easy for a kid to pedal. The bike is easy to assemble and the steering is very responsive.
However, the trike has a few drawbacks: the plastic tires have little traction and so, can easily spin on a smooth concrete surface. The plastic wheels also make the trike loud.
Pros
- Very responsive steering
- Beautiful colors
- Easy assembly
- Removable pedal blocks allowing your kid to grow with the trike
- Available boys’ and girl’s versions
Cons
- Minimal tire traction
- The tricycle can be loud

The maximum recommended age for the strike is 5 years

Best 2-in-1 Balance Bike and Trike for a 3 Year Old
In my opinion, Chillafish Bunzi 2-in-1 Gradual Balance Bike is the best 2-in-1 balance bike and trike for a three-year-old. It doubles as a bike and a tricycle and is available in blue, lime, pink and red colors. It is recommended for kids aged from 1 to 3 years.
I like this bike/trike combo because of its easy convertibility from/to a 3-wheel mode (tricycle) and from/to 2-wheel mode (bike). Also, unlike Fisher-Price Grow-with-Me Trike, this one is very silent, thanks to its anti-skid TPE tires and so, it is suitable for indoor as well as outdoor cycling.
The bike/trike weighs just 4 pounds because of the ABS plastic frame and comes fully assembled.
The main issue I have with this Chillafish BUNZI is that it has only one seat height in balance bike mode. So, after a short time, perhaps months or a year, a kid will find the seat too low to sit on and ride comfortably. Besides, the steering is very stiff for a three-year-old.
Pros
- Easy bike/tricycle convertibility
- Silent ride
- Comes fully assembled
- Lightweight
- Anti-skid TPE tires for good traction
Cons
- Single seat height in bike balance mode
Best Trike With Quiet Wheels for 3 Year Olds
Radio Flyer Red Rider Trike is my best trike for 3 year old as far as the quietness of wheels is concerned. It is available in red and pink colors, has a weight capacity of 49 pounds and is ideal for kids aged from 2 ½ and 5 years.
I like Radio Flyer Red Rider Trike because its tires are very quiet and the handlebars offer strong grips for a comfortable ride. It also looks classy while the adjustable seat and the steel frame allow the trike to ‘grow’ with your kid and stand the test of time.
Also, the trike has a covered back storage bin where your baby can keep her toys and other favorite kid stuff.
However, the trike doesn’t ride well on a grassy surface. Furthermore, its assembly is quite demanding, taking you about 30 minutes to get it done.
Pros
- Adjustable seat
- Classy design
- Quiet wheels
- A covered storage bin at the back
Cons
- Doesn’t come assembled out of the box.
